Hello everyone! Hope you are doing well. First off, shout-out to Christian for pushing through his 4th Chemo and a shout-out to Jess and Jordan for finding out they are having a boy, that's awesome! It has been another great week here in Woodbridge, Virginia. Days filled with lots of walking and long bike rides. The big hills here really wear you out! I am about ready to retire a nice pair of shoes I got at Ross that have become absolutely destroyed in both of the heels. It's satisfying to see your hard work rub off on something so simple as a pair of shoes. Also, I don't mean to brag or anything, but I think I have become the world's best at no handle bars on the bike. Everyone driving who sees me cruising with no handlebars always give me a nice honk and pays me some respect or maybe it's just because I look ridiculous hahaha. Anyway, another great week has come and gone. Long, tiring, and hard working days equal a short week that has flown by. It's weird it is already P-day again! It came by fast but it seems like it has been quite a while since I last wrote everyone.

First off, I would like to tell you about our investigator Adai who I mentioned in the last e-mail.  He was someone we found knocking. We had the chance to meet with him on Tuesday and let me tell you this guy is super awesome and MAN did he do his research. He had already read from The Book of Mormon and his whole front cover was filled with questions he had written down through his research. He watched some videos on The Mormon Channel on YouTube and then did some online searches regarding our Church. We ended up meeting with him for a little over 2 hours and he wanted to know even more but we had to get to dinner with a ward member and we aren't supposed to stay that long anywhere. Adai is a super nice and intelligent guy and really wants to feel the spirit and know if what he has been studying is true. Please keep him in your prayers that he will be able to continue his search for truth in this wonderful gospel!

As I mentioned earlier, this week we did lots of biking and walking around trying to contact people in the area book. The funny moment of the week was when we were trying to contact someone who had met with the missionaries before. He was walking out of his house and Elder Roper tried to pet his pitbull (easily 3 times my weight) and it went nuts and tried to attack him. Needless to say, we were unable to talk to that man after that. We are meeting with two 8 year old's in the ward and are helping prepare them to be baptized! One is a girl named Charlie and a boy named Aden. It has been great meeting with them and they are both amazing kids. On Thursday we had Zone Conference over at our Stake center.  It's one of my favorite things hearing from President and Sister Huntsman. The biggest thing I got out of zone conference was to be more bold. We watched a great talk from president Uchtdorf and I realized that I still have lots to improve on and can be more bold in sharing the gospel and my testimony to everyone I come in contact with. That's something I really want to improve on, being able to share to with everyone what has brought me so much happiness in my life.

On Saturday, Brother Michaelis from the ward who is easily one of the nicest guys out there, took us to breakfast. Keep in mind he and his wife already fed us dinner on Wednesday. We went to an old classic diner with a little juke box playing classics. Songs like Sittin on the dock of the bay, Stand by me, help, 8 days a week, What a night (December 1963), and My girl. All these different classics playing felt like a tender mercy that I got to hear them. It's crazy how these songs take me back to memories of being at home or at school. The songs specifically reminded me of the Sunday night movies with the family.

As I look back at it now the days seem so long and I'm worn out from it but then the week does go by quick. It's all sorts of weird being a new greenie missionary. I go to sleep at nights and forget I'm even on a mission and it still just doesn't seem real to me. It's a weird feeling. I love the work as a missionary and am so glad to be here serving. There is nothing better I could be doing. I'd invite all of you to find the simple and small things that you are blessed with. I've been focusing a lot on the tender mercies of the Lord and it makes me so happy when I realize  everything I've been blessed with. I'm thankful for all of you and love you so much. I love this mission and the work. Take care and talk to you soon.
Love,
Elder Junk

Package from Christian and Sara - loved what they sent me!!

Picture sent to Mom's phone, P-day evening from Brother Simms who took Carson and companion to dinner

Random message we received from someone-- we have no idea who.  That was a really funny story.  We ended up texting him back a really good response from everything and now we will be meeting with him on Thursday.  Question 3 made me laugh so hard because that had no relevance to anything at all - ha ha
