Another great week has come and gone! It has been kind of a slow one and has felt super long but nonetheless an enjoyable one! I am so happy to be a missionary and I feel as if each week I learn something new and slowly make another step of becoming a better missionary. A lot of plans and events fell through this week. Whether it was people not being home, people not answering the phone, or the day just not going according to plan, we just couldn't get a whole lot of plans to come though. That's always hard for me when we aren't doing much and walk/bike around with no real success or conact with people. It makes me feel as if I haven't been working hard or have been lazy. I just need to realize that as long as I keep doing my best and working hard that even if I am not seeing results it's pretty much all I can do!

I would like to start off with a funny experience that happened this week. We have focused this week on trying to find investigators and have done a lot of tracting and knocking doors. We have also been going through the area book trying to find people missionaries have taught in the past and get back in contact with them. As we were knocking doors and tracting out an area, two very interesting individuals caught my and Elder Roper's attention. The 1st was a man who was wearing an N.W.A. shirt so I complimented him on it and asked him what his favorite song was to start some conversation.  He skipped the compliment and asked if we were selling religion. We explained who we were and that this was all free of charge! He was an interesting fellow and told us that apparently we pray wrong and pray to the Sun God! After no real success there we knocked the very next door. The next door a lady opened up and said she wasn't interested BUT did say to be aware of September 23rd and there was a "reason for all of this happening" I assumed she meant the natural disasters going around the world. Apparently there is a comet going through The Northern Star and she said it was a sign of the World ending and related it to the scripture in Revelations 12. I think differently but Hey, if the world ends on September 23rd let her be the first to tell you, she told you so.

On Tuesday we had the zone kickoff and got to meet everyone in our new combined Annandale/Woodbridge zone. It was a lot of fun! All the new missionaries came in. One of the new missionaries is from Box Elder and we have played a lot of basketball against each other so it was great seeing him and connecting with someone I partially knew. In fact today for P-day with our huge combined zone, we all played basketball at the Stake center. It was a group of about 20 Elders all playing today and we got to reunite the good old rivalry with some competitive games. Anyway, it has been sweet gaining some new Elders in the district. Elder Roper is still the District Leader. There are 3 other companionships in the district besides Elder Roper  and they are all Spanish missionaries.  2 companionships of Elders and a companionship of Hermanas. It's a great district and has been great getting to know the new faces.

After focusing our efforts on finding a new solid investigator, our hard work and prayers were answered on Saturday night. We were tracting doors around our apartment complex and we knocked into a man named Adai. He told us to come in immediately and said that he had seen us around and was interested what we do and what we teach. We answered a lot of his questions and gave him the Book of Mormon to read. He has gone through a lot of different religions throughout the course of his life. Adai grew up Catholic but now considers himself a non believer in God and Christ. He is very willing and open to listening to our message and was very interested with what we teach and what we do as missionaries at such a young age. We have a return appointment with him tomorrow and are really hoping to be able to continue teaching him. Adai has many questions about what this life has to offer and we are happy to teach him!

I love all of you and I appreciate all the prayers and support I really do feel them helping me through each day. Mosiah 16:9 He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death. I am thankful for a loving Savior and for this wonderful opportunity to serve Him for a short period of 2 years. Jesus Christ the Son of God suffered for all of us and truly is the light of The World. I love my Savior and am thankful to be apart of his wonderful creation and be on the earth at this time. Our loving Heavenly Father has a plan for all of Us and that comforts me so much. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer, amen.

Love you all and take care,
Elder Junk

And he told Mom, "I don't need an umbrella!"
